Learning the hard wayI'm in the middle of learning a very harsh lesson. Almost a week ago, all of my websites went offline. As of today, only a handful of them have come back up. My blog, obviously, is one of them. The problem is that my host is being completely unresponsive. The 4 times I've contacted support, I've been told that they're working on it and will 'update me shortly'. Well, I've never gotten an update that wasn't a response to my inquiry. On top of that, their site doesn't even acknowledge the that there IS an issue (under status), and now even their support site is offline with a message saying it's being upgraded (yeah right). They don't publish a phone number anywhere. And the worst part of it all, the hard lesson, is that I don't have my own backups of my sites. What good is it to have your host backing your stuff up if they don't ever get around to restoring it when there's an issue? If I had my own copies, I could set up another account somewhere else and put my sites back up. As it is I'm completely up a creek.
