My First RC AirplaneAfter a fairly minimal amount of research into an ideal first airplane, I ran off to the local hobby store and picked up the Super Cub LP. It's what they call a trainer, a plane designed for learning to fly. It's relatively slow (top speed of 30 mph), has forgiving flight characteristics, and takes a crash pretty well (supposedly). All that said, it wasn't the plane that I intended to purchase, but they recommended it over the one I'd been looking at. Plus it was in stock. It's what they call ready to fly, which means there's only very minimal assembly required. No gluing or anything serious, just a couple screws, clips, and rubber bands and I was ready to fly. It's battery powered, so there's no mess or fuss like there can be with gas engines. My first day out I did crash it a couple of times. The first crash put a little dent or notch in the back of the wing, which was no biggie. The second crash didn't do much damage, but it did come down dangerously close to a pond (I thought I was going to lose it). I'll post some pictures/videos soon.
