New Year's Resolutions 2010

I didn't used to dig on New Year's resolutions, but a couple years ago I had a change of heart for reasons I don't recall or never knew. Either way, I'm now a fan and try to create achievable, challenging, and meaningful goals each year.

I wrote last year about creating SMART goals, or those that are specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and timed. I've had success with setting goals that meet these criteria and am doing the same this year.

You'll notice that a lot of my goals are fitness related. That's due in part to fitness goals being the first that I found true success with. It's also because I care about my health and have been increasingly interested in improving my fitness level. I also like these types of goals because they are super-measurable and there is NO doubt about the steps needed to achieve them.

So, on the fitness front, I am resolving to complete the following in 2010:
- Swim 25 miles
- Run 100 miles (Easy for you, huge for me. So not a runner.)
- Bike 300 miles
- 1000 pull-ups
- 12,000 push-ups

I'm going to stick in one resolution about my blog, because I was quite disappointed with myself for letting things peter out so much the last quarter of this year:

- Make at least 50 blog posts

And I'm really looking to amp up my business this year. It's something that I've struggled with creating goals for in the past because I haven't felt that I had a clear set of steps that would lead to the results I wanted. I want to be confident that I can achieve what I set out to do. This year I feel that I am well-positioned to accomplish a significant resolution:

- Add $10,000/mo of (ideally passive) income

I don't believe that these goals will be easy to accomplish, but I do believe that it's possible and that I will be successful.
